Geoffrey Gearner

Degree: Master of Science in Biology
Dr. Geoff Gearner joined the faculty in 1990, after graduating from Texas A&M University with a Ph.D. in Microbiology. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology in 1981 from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. Dr. Gearner serves as the Department's Graduate Program Coordinator. He teaches BIOL 105 (Introduction to the Biological Sciences) for non-majors, BIOL 171 (Principles of Biology) for majors, BIOL 317 (Principles of Microbiology), BIOL 517 (Immunology), BIOL 519 (Virology), and BIOL 540 (General Parasitology). Dr. Gearner's current research interest is in the area of molecular monitoring of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and Escherichia coli host source tracking in the Triplett Creek watershed, Rowan County, Kentucky.
