Morehead State University is located in the foothills of the Daniel Boone National Forest in Rowan County, Kentucky, midway between Lexington, Kentucky and Huntington, West Virginia. MSU’s history dates back to 1887 when we first opened our doors to East Kentucky students.
Morehead State University has more than 9,000 students from 100 Kentucky counties, 39 states, and 27 nations. To date, we have graduated over 55,000 students!
MSU offers students a 16-1 student/faculty ratio. Fifty percent of our classes have less than 20 students and only three percent of MSU classes have 50 or more students. Sometimes, students need to take classes closer to home; MSU offers classes at our extended campus centers in Ashland, Jackson, Mount Sterling, Prestonsburg, West Liberty, and several other locations in East Kentucky and across the globe through the World Wide Web.
In addition to academics, students have the opportunity to join more than 100 clubs and organizations. MSU is also a charter member of the Ohio Valley Conference in NCAA Division I. We sponsor 18 intercollegiate sports for men and women. Eagle Football competes in the Pioneer Football League (www.msueagles.com)
